According to a report by 9to5Mac, the next iPhone model, potentially named iPhone 16 Pro Max, is expected to feature a larger screen compared to previous iterations. Additionally, Apple is reportedly considering the introduction of the “Ultra” branding for the iPhone 16 Pro series, following a naming convention similar to the Apple Watch Ultra introduced last year.
According to shared CAD files, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, or possibly the iPhone 16 Ultra, is projected to showcase a larger screen size of around 6.9 inches. Alongside this enlargement, the overall dimensions of the device will also experience significant growth.
Although the device will become taller, the increase in width will be minimal. This design decision is likely influenced by the current difficulty users face when trying to hold the iPhone 14 Pro Max comfortably with one hand.
Here are the approximate measurements for comparison:
iPhone 16 Ultra:
- Width: 77.2 mm
- Height: 165.0 mm
- Screen Size: 6.9 inches
iPhone 15 Pro Max:
- Width: 76.7 mm
- Height: 159.8 mm
- Screen Size: 6.7 inches
These measurements demonstrate that the iPhone 16 Ultra will have a slightly larger width and height, accommodating a larger 6.9-inch screen compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max with its 6.7-inch screen.
Increased Screen Size and Potential Features of the iPhone 16 Pro Max
According to leaked CAD files, Apple is planning to increase the screen size of the iPhone 16 Pro Max while maintaining a similar overall form factor. Esteemed industry insiders such as Ming-Chi Kuo and Ross Young have also hinted at potential growth for the smaller variant of the iPhone 16 Pro, possibly featuring a screen size of around 6.3 inches.
