Pincode, an E-Commerce App, Launched on ONDC by PhonePe

PhonePe, a digital payments company backed by Walmart Inc, has launched an e-commerce app called Pincode on the Indian government’s open network to enhance its hyperlocal commerce offerings. Currently available only in Bengaluru and accessible on both Google Play Store and App Store, the Pincode app features categories such as groceries, food, pharma, electronics, home decor, and fashion. The app aims to link consumers with nearby stores, allowing them to conveniently order products online, obtain discounts, and receive instant refunds and returns. On the app, local retailers, MSMEs, and farmers can register and sell branded and locally made products, helping to enhance the entire local ecosystem.

Sameer Nigam, CEO and founder PhonePe said, “We are very excited to launch Pincode. Pincode is a brand-new shopping app and offers a revolutionary new approach to e-commerce, which puts all the local stores and sellers at the heart of the digital shopping growth story. Pincode is built on the ONDC network, which allows us to generate demand for merchants digitised by various seller platforms in an inclusive manner, while creating new opportunities for growth and driving innovation at scale.
