Gnani AI has launched Timbre v3.0, an expressive text-to-speech model designed for enterprises, developers and content creators. The model combines multilingual speech generation with controls that allow users to direct how a voice sounds, from live customer conversations to audiobooks, learning content and video voiceovers.
Audio Tags Allow Line-by-Line Voice Control
Timbre v3.0 supports audio tags, which are short instructions added within text to guide speech delivery. Users can make a voice laugh, giggle, sigh, whisper or shout at specific points. They can also add pauses, slow down speech or introduce excitement into a line.
The model also supports non-verbal sounds such as coughs, sniffles, yawns and exhales. These features give creators more control over character dialogue for games and animation, podcasts, advertisements, social media videos and e-learning content.
Audio tags work across all supported languages. When explicit instructions are not provided, Timbre v3.0 automatically adjusts speech delivery based on the meaning, tone and punctuation of each sentence.
Supports 10 Indian Languages and Indian-Accented English
Timbre v3.0 supports Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Indian-accented English. It also offers multiple prebuilt male and female voices.
According to Gnani AI, its unified multilingual model helps maintain a consistent voice character across languages. This can help businesses create a recognisable brand voice for customers in different regions while delivering natural pacing and intonation.
Text Normalisation Helps With Numbers, Dates and Financial Details
The model includes pronunciation and text normalisation capabilities that convert written numbers, dates, currencies, symbols and abbreviations into natural speech.
This is particularly relevant for banking, financial services and insurance applications, where voice systems need to communicate detailed information clearly. For example, a voice agent may need to explain an EMI amount, a loan account number, a payment due date or an annual interest rate.
Timbre v3.0 is designed to render these details naturally in the listener’s language, distinguishing monetary amounts, individual account digits, dates and percentages. Adjustable speaking rates also allow businesses to slow down important information or deliver routine updates more quickly.
Designed for Real-Time Conversations and Long-Form Audio
Gnani AI says Timbre v3.0 delivers its first audio in under 200 milliseconds. Its streaming playback feature allows audio to begin before the full synthesis process is complete, making it suitable for applications that require quick responses.
The model also supports long-form synthesis, allowing it to generate extended narration and responses without breaks. This gives businesses and content creators the flexibility to use the same voice across phone systems, applications and digital content.
AI Voice Applications Across Industries
Enterprise use cases for Timbre v3.0 include voice agents and interactive voice response (IVR) systems. These can support payment reminders, collections, know-your-customer (KYC) processes, onboarding, insurance renewals and claims, appointment reminders and customer support.
The applications span financial services, insurance, healthcare and telecom. Beyond customer interactions, the model can also support audio articles, in-app guidance and accessibility tools that read content aloud in a listener’s preferred language.
Gnani AI Targets Enterprise and Content Creation Needs
With Timbre v3.0, Gnani AI is bringing multilingual speech generation and directed vocal expression together in one model. Its combination of audio tags, language support, text normalisation and streaming capabilities is designed to serve businesses building voice-based services as well as creators producing audio and video content.
Leadership Comment
“Building speech AI for India means paying attention to how people actually speak and listen,” shared Bharath Shankar, Chief Product and Engineering Officer, Gnani AI. “A date or an amount needs to be unmistakably clear. A story needs pauses, changes in pace and expressions. With Timbre v3.0, we are bringing that clarity and control into one multilingual model, so businesses and creators can shape both what a voice says and how it says it.”
“Consider a story being narrated in Hindi. A character hesitates before answering, lowers their voice to a whisper and then breaks into a laugh. The words tell only one part of the story. The pauses, pace, and delivery carry the rest. The same attention to delivery matters in everyday business conversations. A payment reminder needs to read an amount clearly. An insurance message needs to give the listener time to absorb a date. A learning app needs a voice that can hold attention through an explanation.”
“Timbre v3.0 brings these needs together: clear pronunciation, voices that retain their character across languages, and control over expression at the moments that matter. today over 1 lakh hours of voice calls are powered by Timbre”, concluded Shankar.
