Sectigo Appoints Ian Hassard as Chief Product Officer to Drive Certificate Lifecycle Management Growth

Sectigo has announced the appointment of Ian Hassard as its new Chief Product Officer. Hassard will lead the company’s global product strategy and oversee the continued development of Sectigo Certificate Manager (SCM), its flagship Certificate Lifecycle Management (CLM) platform.

Focus on Certificate Lifecycle Management

Hassard’s appointment comes as organisations face changing requirements around digital certificates, including shorter certificate lifespans, the rapid growth of non-human identities and the need to prepare for migration to Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC).

As Chief Product Officer, Hassard will work closely with Sectigo’s engineering and go-to-market teams. His role will focus on shaping the company’s product vision and strategy while guiding the continued evolution of Sectigo Certificate Manager.

Sectigo to Focus on Changing Customer Requirements

Hassard will focus on translating changing customer and market requirements into new platform capabilities. The goal is to simplify certificate operations, reduce security risks and help organisations prepare for the next generation of digital trust.

Ian Hassard Brings Over 20 Years of Experience

Hassard brings more than two decades of experience in product development across identity, cybersecurity and networking. Before joining Sectigo, he served as Vice President of Product Management at Okta.

At Okta, Hassard led product strategy across the Auth0 and Okta Customer Identity portfolio.

Hassard Previously Co-Founded RootSecure

Earlier in his career, Hassard co-founded RootSecure, a cybersecurity company that was acquired by Arctic Wolf. Following the acquisition, he held product leadership roles at the company and contributed to its growth.

Experience Across Identity and Cybersecurity

Hassard is also an inventor with multiple patents covering identity, security and emerging technologies. His career has focused on turning complex technology changes into practical products designed to address security challenges at scale.

Leadership Comments

“Ian is the kind of product leader who can turn a rapidly changing market into a clear and compelling product vision,” said Kevin Weiss, Chief Executive Officer at Sectigo. “He has an impressive track record of building and scaling security and identity products through periods of significant growth and complexity, while translating major technology shifts into solutions customers can adopt and trust. Ian’s leadership will strengthen our ability to deliver on our promise of Simplicity at Scale and accelerate the next phase of innovation across our CLM platform.”

“Certificate Lifecycle Management is becoming foundational to how organizations secure digital operations at scale,” said Ian Hassard, Chief Product Officer at Sectigo. “Sectigo has the market position, technology and depth of expertise to define where this category goes next. I’m excited to build on that strength and advance a platform that makes it easier for organizations to manage growing certificate complexity, reduce risk and prepare for what comes next.”

With his appointment as Chief Product Officer, Hassard will now lead Sectigo’s product vision as the company continues to develop its Certificate Lifecycle Management platform.
