The World University of Design, Sonipat, celebrated World Photography Day with a photography exhibition featuring around 250 photographs created by students from different departments. Held on August 19 at the university campus, the exhibition highlighted students’ creativity, technical skills and ability to tell stories through visual art.
The exhibition attracted students, faculty members, distinguished guests and students from the RIM School in Chandigarh. Visitors were presented with a diverse collection featuring several photographic techniques and storytelling formats.
Students Showcase Diverse Photography Techniques
The exhibition featured backlit imagery, superimposed dance forms, editorial pictorials and photo essays. Among the notable displays was a photo story from Mumbai focusing on the “Flower Chain and Delivery Chain,” curated by students from the School of Visual Art.
Students from the School of Communication presented dance-based visual narratives, while students from the School of Fashion Communication showcased portraits and life scenes captured in the hills.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sanjay Gupta Inaugurates Exhibition
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sanjay Gupta, who is also a photography enthusiast. During his address, Dr. Gupta encouraged students to explore photographic art and shared technical insights related to the field.
He also congratulated the participating students and highlighted the importance of celebrating creativity and innovation through visual art.
19 Students Participate in Exhibition
Around 19 selected students actively participated in the exhibition, showcasing their photographic work and creative approaches.
Recognising their efforts, Dr. Sanjay Gupta distributed prizes to outstanding participants during the event. The celebration also marked the fourth consecutive year that the university has commemorated World Photography Day on its campus.
Exhibition Open to Visitors Until August 21
Students from other universities also visited the exhibition alongside their faculty members and acknowledged the university’s contribution to creative education and artistic expression.
The exhibition will remain open until Friday, August 21, 2026, allowing visitors to experience the collection of photographs created by students.
Through initiatives such as the World Photography Day exhibition, the World University of Design continues to promote artistic talent while encouraging creativity and innovation among its students.
