Mad Monkey AI has announced the upcoming launch of its new social media platform, inviting students to co-create and shape its development from the ground up. Breaking away from traditional social platforms driven by passive scrolling, the company is positioning its product as a purpose-driven, collaboration-focused ecosystem built around student communities.
Early Access Begins with Student-Only Waitlist
The platform’s rollout begins with a pre-launch waitlist exclusively for students, marking the first phase of a broader launch strategy. This approach places students at the center of the platform’s evolution, enabling them to influence features, community dynamics, and overall user experience before public release.
Founding Campus Founders Program at the Core
At the heart of the initiative is the Founding Campus Founders Program, where selected student leaders from participating colleges will actively contribute to building the platform. These early adopters will lead and initiate “Sparks” — collaborative, project-based interactions designed to encourage meaningful engagement and real-world outcomes.
‘Sparks’ Introduce Collaborative Social Interaction
Unlike traditional social media formats, Sparks allow users to collaborate on ideas, projects, and initiatives, shifting focus from content consumption to creation and execution. These interactions aim to foster communities centered around shared goals, innovation, and peer-driven collaboration.
Campus Campaign Drives Early Adoption
To support early traction, Mad Monkey AI has launched a campus-focused influencer campaign, onboarding 25 student creators across five major cities — Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai. The initiative has already generated over 550 waitlist sign-ups, reflecting strong early interest among college students.
Co-Creation Model Rewards Contributors
Mad Monkey AI is actively incorporating feedback from early users and Campus Founders, with high-engagement ideas being considered for direct implementation into the platform. Contributors whose ideas are adopted will receive visible recognition, including feature attribution, platform visibility, and public acknowledgment.
Expanding Partnerships with Colleges and Universities
The company is currently in discussions with multiple institutions to expand its Founding Campus Founders Program, aiming to build a strong grassroots ecosystem across campuses. This collaborative approach is designed to create a sense of ownership among users while fostering long-term engagement.
Backed by Startup Virginia’s Idea Factory Program
Mad Monkey AI’s vision has also received external validation, with the company being selected for the Idea Factory program by Startup Virginia. This recognition highlights the platform’s potential and early momentum in redefining social media experiences.
Redefining Social Media Through Purposeful Engagement
With its waitlist now live and campus engagement underway, Mad Monkey AI is preparing for a phased rollout, starting with early contributors before expanding to a wider audience. The platform aims to redefine social media by focusing on collaboration, creativity, and real-world impact, offering an alternative to traditional engagement models dominated by passive consumption.
Leadership Quote
Speaking on the announcement, Lakshman Devarajan, Founder and CEO of Mad Monkey AI said, “We are building this platform with a clear focus on how students actually want to use their time and ideas. The early response has shown that students want more than passive engagement. They want to contribute and be recognised for what they build. That is why we have opened up the process at this stage itself. The Campus Founders are helping define the platform. Their inputs are already shaping product decisions, and this will continue as we scale across campuses. We see this as a long-term build with the community at the centre of it.”
