PhonePe has partnered with Liquid Group, a digital cross-border payment solutions leader, to extend its UPI QR payment acceptance network in Singapore. This collaboration is designed to cater to Indian travelers, allowing them to seamlessly make payments at Liquid Group’s extensive merchant network across popular tourist destinations in Singapore using their PhonePe app.
Expanding UPI Payment Accessibility for Indian Travellers
The partnership aims to make UPI-based payments more accessible for Indian visitors, enabling them to conveniently scan and pay via UPI QR codes at various merchant locations. These QR codes will be prominently available at well-known tourist hotspots, such as Changi Airport, duty-free shops, restaurants, bars, and retailers like The Cocoa Trees, Charles & Keith, Luvenus Jewellery, Hard Rock Café, and more. The collaboration, facilitated by Liquid Group’s partnership with NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), allows Liquid Group merchants to accept UPI payments, streamlining transactions for Indian tourists.
Enhanced International Remittance via UPI
In addition to enabling seamless UPI payments at merchant outlets, the partnership offers more benefits to PhonePe users. Travellers can now receive international remittances through UPI via the PayNow-UPI real-time remittance corridor, making money transfers faster and easier. This removes the need to share complex bank details like account numbers and IFSC codes, adding convenience to cross-border remittances.
