Freshworks Inc. has officially appointed Murali Swaminathan as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). With this strategic hire, Freshworks aims to strengthen its technology roadmap and strategy, positioning itself for continued growth in the employee and customer experience sectors. Murali will lead the global engineering and architecture teams and will directly report to Dennis Woodside, CEO and President of Freshworks.
Murali Swaminathan’s Background and Expertise
Murali Swaminathan brings a wealth of experience, having spent over three decades in software engineering and management. Before joining Freshworks, Murali served as Vice President of Engineering at ServiceNow, where he was responsible for the IT Service Management and Strategic Portfolio Management portfolios. These products have generated billions in revenue and have been widely adopted by enterprises globally. His leadership at ServiceNow was crucial in developing a modern application architecture that supports these market-leading products.
Prior to his tenure at ServiceNow, Murali held significant roles at Recommind (now part of OpenText) and CA Technologies (now under Broadcom Inc.). He has consistently demonstrated his ability to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions, making him an ideal fit for Freshworks as it continues its upward trajectory. Murali holds a master’s degree in Software Engineering Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Instrumentation from Annamalai University in India.
