Xiaomi, has officially entered the electric vehicle market with the launch of its first electric Xiaomi SU7 Series. This milestone not only signifies Xiaomi’s foray into the electric vehicle (EV) business but also introduces the company’s connected technology, HyperMind, through its in-home operating system, HyperOS.
Xiaomi SU7 Series: A Duo of Powerful Variants
The Xiaomi SU7 series debuts in two impressive variants, the regular SU7 and the top-of-the-line SU7 Max. The Max variant stands out with almost double the horsepower and torque, coupled with around 30% more range on a single charge.
Regular Xiaomi SU7:
- 0-100 km/h in 5.28 seconds
- Claimed range of 668 km
- 299 horsepower, 400Nm torque
- Max speed of 210 km/h
- Rear-wheel drive unit
Xiaomi SU7 Max:
- 0-100 km/h in an impressive 2.78 seconds
- Claimed range of 800 km
- 673 horsepower, 848Nm torque
- Max speed of 265 km/h
Connected Technology and HyperOS Integration
A standout feature of the Xiaomi SU7 series lies in its connected technology, driven by HyperOS and various smart features. Xiaomi is emphasizing the integration of HyperOS into its ecosystem, aligning with predictions made in earlier discussions about HyperOS. The vehicle showcases a connected chipset from NVIDIA, capable of handling 508 Trillion Tera operations per second. This power is harnessed by Xiaomi Pilot, the company’s Autonomous Driving algorithm.
Autonomous Driving and Adaptive BEV
Xiaomi has put a strong emphasis on autonomous driving, claiming to have tested it extensively for over 10 million kilometers. The SU7 series employs on-board cameras in what Xiaomi terms ‘Adaptive BEV’ (Bird Eye View). This innovative technology dynamically adjusts the distance the cameras can see, optimizing their range based on the surroundings. This adaptation is designed to enhance the vehicle’s ability to assess pedestrians and traffic for improved safety and efficiency.
A Glimpse into the Future of Xiaomi’s EV Endeavor
As Xiaomi ventures into the electric vehicle landscape, the SU7 series promises not only powerful and efficient performance but also a glimpse into the future of connected technology in automotive design. The integration of HyperOS, coupled with robust autonomous driving features, positions Xiaomi as a formidable player in the evolving electric vehicle market.
