Airtel Empowers 1.7 Million Customers with 5G in North East

In a remarkable achievement within just one year of launching Airtel 5G Plus, Bharti Airtel, a leading telecommunications service provider in India, announced that it has garnered over 1.7 million unique 5G customers in the North East states. The coverage spans across Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura. Airtel proudly revealed that its 5G Plus service is now accessible in all districts of these states, achieving this milestone in just 12 months.

Airtel’s 5G service has now enveloped all districts and union territories in the country, solidifying its commitment to widespread network deployment. The expansive reach of Airtel’s 5G network includes diverse locations, from the living roots bridge in Meghalaya and Ziro Valley to Bomdilla in Arunachal Pradesh. Notably, it also extends to iconic landmarks such as the Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala, Zuluk—a remote village in Sikkim—and the lush green tea gardens of Assam. The digital superhighway has further reached popular destinations like Bara Bazaar in Shillong and Asia’s cleanest village, ‘Mawlynnong.’

Rajnish Verma, CEO Assam & NESA, Bharti Airtel, expressed enthusiasm about the achievement, stating, “We were the first telco to deploy high-speed 5G technology in the states, and today we are delighted to be playing an important role in connecting the lives of our customers. We thank all our 1.7 million customers for embracing Airtel 5G Plus network. We continue to set the industry pace with unparalleled growth in 5G customers, prioritizing cutting-edge 5G technology and customer satisfaction. Our 5G landscape has the states’ widest, quickest, and most dependable network, encompassing all 110 districts.”

Over the past year, Airtel has showcased its commitment to 5G in North east innovation, presenting compelling use cases that demonstrate the transformative power of this technology. Milestones include establishing India’s first private 5G network at the BOSCH facility in Bengaluru and partnering with Mahindra & Mahindra to convert its Chakan manufacturing unit into India’s first 5G-enabled auto manufacturing facility. Airtel’s recent launch of Airtel Xstream Air Fiber, the first wireless home Wi-Fi service in India powered by Airtel 5G Plus in Delhi & Mumbai, exemplifies its outstanding 5G capabilities for consumers.
