NASA Launches Beta Version of Website and Upgrades Smartphone App

NASA is currently undergoing a digital transformation to expand the accessibility and global reach of its platforms, offering a world-class web experience for audiences worldwide. The space agency’s initiatives include modernizing its primary and science websites, introducing an on-demand streaming service, and enhancing the NASA smartphone app, aiming to provide users with an enriched content experience.

The redesigned beta version of the website is now available for public exploration and feedback at beta.nasa.gov. Jeff Seaton, the chief information officer, emphasizes the goal of inspiring humanity through a cohesive and top-tier NASA web experience. The renovation aims to make information more accessible, discoverable, and secure, significantly improving the overall user experience.

The upgraded web portals will serve as a unified hub for the agency’s information, encompassing mission updates, climate data, and developments related to the Artemis program. With integrated navigation, a shared search engine, and advanced publishing capabilities, the updated nasa.gov and science.nasa.gov promise to offer an interconnected, topic-focused experience.

NASA plans to continually refine the beta site based on user feedback and integrate content from various popular sites, ensuring a seamless and user-friendly access to previously scattered information.

In addition to the website upgrade, NASA will introduce a new streaming platform called NASA+, offering ad-free and family-friendly access to the agency’s Emmy Award-winning live coverage and original video series. Users can access NASA+ via the NASA App on iOS and Android devices, streaming media players like Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, and the web, making space exploration and information readily available “on demand and at your fingertips.”

Overall, these digital advancements seek to effectively share NASA’s mission, discoveries, and innovations, fostering stronger connections with audiences worldwide.
