Apple is reportedly considering removing two key features, iMessage and FaceTime, from iPhones in the UK due to an ongoing regulatory issue. The UK government plans to introduce the Online Safety Bill, which aims to regulate messaging services and grant access to end-to-end encrypted messages for monitoring illegal content, including CSAM (child sexual abuse material).
Similar to WhatsApp and Signal, Apple opposes the Online Safety Bill, as it raises concerns about data security and user privacy. If the bill is implemented, Apple may also pull out iMessage and FaceTime, as it refuses to make specific changes that could compromise its security features.
