5G Rollout In India – Every Airtel User Will Have 5G Services From The Mid Of December

According to Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal, high-speed internet would be available to all 5G-enabled handsets, although Apple iPhone customers will have to wait a while longer.

Midway through this month, Airtel will begin offering its 5G services, however, only certain devices will be able to make use of them. Gopal Vittal, CEO of Airtel, has stated that all 5G-enabled handsets would receive 5G services, although Apple iPhone owners will need to wait a while. Therefore, beginning this month, Android users who are also Airtel subscribers will have access to lightning-fast connectivity.

When asked about Apple’s plans for 5G during an earnings call, Vittal said the company plans to release software in November to support the services, and so by December, all of its devices would have 5G compatibility. Currently, Airtel is offering its 5G services at 4G prices, but that won’t last forever. In the following 6-9 months, the corporation will likely decide on the costs of the 5G plans.

Samsung… I think there are 27 models of 5G. 16 models are already ready and enabled. Rest will happen by November 10-12. OnePlus all 17 models will work on our network. Vivo all 34 models, and Realme all 34 models will work on our network. Xiaomi’s all 33 models and Oppo’s all 14 models will work. Apple has 13 models. They will have (software update) release around the first week of November and by mid-December, they should be already,” during the earnings call, said Vittal.

By March 2024, Vittal plans to have Airtel’s 5G service available in all major cities and many rural areas.

Airtel has begun a staggered release of 5G services. Customers in Delhi, Gurgaon, & Chennai were among the first to test out Airtel’s 5G network. On October 1, Airtel began offering the services to the public. In the first phase, the company said its 5G service would be available in the cities of Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Siliguri, Nagpur, Hyderabad, and Varanasi. Next year, they’ll have expanded their coverage to include even more radii.

We put the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 through its paces in a 5G speed test. We were able to achieve 283Mbps throughout our test, which is respectable but far slower than what Airtel had claimed. As the deployment becomes more stable over the next few days, speeds should increase.
