WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is said to be in the process of developing a new feature called “silence unknown callers.”
According to the report, users will be able to find the toggle for the “silence unknown callers” feature in the app settings. Once enabled, calls from unknown numbers will be muted, but they will still appear in the calls list and notification center.
In addition, WhatsApp is currently introducing a new feature called “Split view” for tablets. This feature will allow users to view and use two different sections of the app side by side simultaneously on Android beta.
This feature will allow users to mute incoming calls from unknown numbers while still displaying them in the call list and notification center. Currently, this feature is being developed on the WhatsApp beta for Android, as reported by WABetaInfo. The feature is expected to offer several benefits, such as reducing interruptions and potentially preventing spam calls.
Typically, when users open a chat on the tablet version of the WhatsApp application, the chat view takes up the entire screen. To open a different conversation, users must go back to the chat list. However, with the new “Split view” feature, the chat list will always be visible when opening a chat, allowing users to seamlessly switch between conversations without navigating back to the chat list.
