In a move to bolster user privacy and security, WhatsApp ‘View Once’ feature introduces to include voice messages globally. The View Once feature, initially introduced for photos and videos in 2021, allows users to send media that can only be viewed or listened to once by the recipient before disappearing from the chat.
How to Send View Once Voice Messages:
- Open an individual or group chat on WhatsApp.
- Tap the microphone icon to begin recording a voice message.
- Swipe up to lock the recording.
- Tap and hold the record button.
- Toggle the “View Once” option, indicated by turning green.
- Tap send.
Once the recipient listens to the voice message, it will disappear from the chat, offering an additional layer of privacy to users.
WhatsApp ensures that View Once voice messages, like other messages on the platform, benefit from default end-to-end encryption. This security feature ensures that the content of messages remains private and secure, visible only to the intended recipients.
The View Once feature has been well-received since its introduction, allowing users to share sensitive or ephemeral content without concerns about it being stored or forwarded. The expansion of this feature to voice messages aligns with WhatsApp’s commitment to providing users with control over their digital communication.
The availability of View Once voice messages will be rolled out globally over the next few days, ensuring that users worldwide can take advantage of this enhanced privacy feature. As users send disappearing voice messages, they will be notified with an opened receipt, indicating that the content has been viewed but not saved.
WhatsApp continues to evolve its platform with a focus on user privacy and security. By introducing the View Once feature for voice messages, the company aims to offer users more control over their shared content and contribute to a safer and more secure messaging experience.
