WhatsApp Beta Tests New Skip Gesture Feature for Video Playback

WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform owned by Meta, is constantly exploring and testing new features to enhance user experience. The latest feature under testing is a “Whatsapp Skip Gesture Feature” for video playback. This addition aims to make navigating through videos on the platform more user-friendly and convenient.

According to a recent report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has rolled out a beta update for Android (version 2.23.24.6) that introduces the skip gesture feature for videos. This feature allows users to easily move forward or backward within a video by tapping on the screen. It’s a much-needed addition that can significantly improve the video-watching experience on the platform.

The skip gesture feature will display forward and backward icons on either side of the play/pause button. Users can simply double-tap the forward icon to skip ahead by 10 seconds or double-tap the backward icon to rewind by 10 seconds. This functionality is reminiscent of how video playback works on platforms like YouTube, offering a familiar and intuitive experience.
