Twitter to Offer Free Verification to Top 10,000 Follower Count Organizations and 500 High-Spending Advertisers
Twitter has announced that it will be making significant changes to its verification process, including the phasing out of its legacy verified program in April and the introduction of Twitter Verification for Organizations. As part of this, Twitter is offering a complimentary verification to the top 10,000 organizations with the highest follower counts, as well as to the 500 advertisers that spend the most on its platform.
This change will allow companies that are willing to pay $1,000 per month to retain their verification, and also denote certain accounts as “affiliated.” This feature will be beneficial to brands that want to verify affiliated accounts, as is already being done with Twitter Support and Twitter Blue accounts. For users who rely on Twitter as a source of information, it is important to know that the information is coming from a verified account.
Free Verification Offer by Twitter to High-Follower Count Organizations and Top Advertisers to Mitigate High Verification Cost
Although Verification for Organizations on Twitter comes with a steep cost of $1,000 a month, plus an additional $50 a month for each affiliated account, Twitter is offering a partial package for free to top advertisers and organizations with a significant number of followers. This move could potentially prevent the high cost of verification from adversely impacting the Twitter community. As a result, many significant players may not lose their verification badges even if they choose not to pay the annual fee of $12,000 to Twitter.
However, new companies could face challenges in building their audience on the platform, as they may have to compete with verified brands or pay $1,000 a month for verification themselves.
