Spam calls have become a major concern in India, prompting both government initiatives and tech-driven solutions to curb the issue. While Android users have long benefited from automatic spam call detection, iPhone users have faced limitations due to iOS restrictions on call log access. Addressing this gap, Truecaller has now launched a new update for iPhone users, introducing real-time caller ID and automated spam blocking—a significant step toward enhancing call security on iOS.
Enhanced Spam Protection on iOS
For the first time, Truecaller has brought Android-level caller ID and spam-blocking capabilities to iPhone users. This update ensures that iOS users can now automatically block spam calls and receive real-time caller identification, making it easier to identify and avoid unwanted calls.
The update is currently being rolled out globally for Truecaller’s premium subscribers on iOS. All iPhone users can access a 30-day free trial, but continued usage will require a Truecaller Premium subscription. Users can also opt for the Family Plan, allowing them to share all premium features—including Truecaller AI Assistant—with up to four additional members at an affordable monthly or annual rate.
For free iOS users, ad-supported manual number lookup and caller ID for Verified Businesses will remain available, ensuring basic caller identification services continue to be accessible.
How to Enable Truecaller’s Spam-Blocking Features on iOS
To activate the new spam-blocking protection, follow these steps:
- Open the Truecaller app on your iPhone.
- Tap on “Settings.”
- Navigate to “Manage Blocking.”
- Choose from three spam protection levels: Off, Basic, and Max.
- Select the “Max” tab for the strongest spam call protection.
Additionally, Truecaller now supports Apple’s Live Caller ID Lookup framework, which enables real-time caller identification. This integration enhances accuracy and security by allowing third-party caller ID apps like Truecaller to securely query their servers for caller details.
With this groundbreaking update, iPhone users in India and beyond can now experience enhanced spam protection, bringing them on par with Android users in the fight against unwanted and fraudulent calls.
