Tim Cook Unveils Apple’s Mumbai Store, as India Sales Surpass $6 Billion

Apple Inc’s FY 2023 sales in India surpass $6 billion, underscoring the immense potential of the Indian market, just ahead of Apple CEO Tim Cook’s inauguration of the company’s first store in Mumbai.

As per insider information, Apple’s revenue surged by nearly 50% to $4.1 billion in FY 2023, as reported by the media. The tech giant is set to announce its quarterly earnings on May 4, with expectations of a decline in total global revenue. Apple CEO Tim Cook personally greeted customers at the newly launched store in Mumbai’s BKC business district, which coincides with the company’s 25th anniversary in India.

Cook is scheduled to preside over the inauguration of Apple’s second store in Saket, Delhi, on April 20, as part of his visit to India.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said-“India has such a beautiful culture and an incredible energy, and we’re excited to build on our long-standing history — supporting our customers, investing in local communities, and working together to build a better future with innovations that serve humanity.”

Apple’s senior vice president for retail, Deirdre O’Brien, highlighted the company’s focus on sustainability and inclusivity during a media interaction, pointing out that the 100-member team at the Mumbai store will be proficient in speaking 18 different Indian languages.

O’Brien revealed that Apple has a workforce of 2,500 employees in India and has also contributed to the creation of 10 lakh (1 million) jobs indirectly through its app ecosystem in the country.
