STL, a leading global optical and digital solutions company, has partnered with the Government Medical College & Hospital in Chatrapati Sambhaji Nagar to launch a groundbreaking Kangaroo Mother Care Unit (KMC). This unique neonatal care unit, spanning 8500 sq ft, is outfitted with advanced facilities to provide comprehensive and continuous care for mothers and their babies. Situated close to rural areas, the unit aims to serve the surrounding talukas in Maharashtra, emphasizing the Kangaroo Mother Care practice. This approach, which focuses on skin-to-skin contact between mothers and their premature infants, is expected to significantly reduce hospitalization time and improve neonatal health outcomes.
The KMC ward was officially inaugurated by Mr. Ankit Agarwal, Managing Director of STL, in the presence of Dr. Shivaji Sukre, DEAN of the Government Medical College & Hospital, and Dr. L.S. Deshmukh, Professor and Head of Neonatology, along with other key officials. With the infrastructure now in place, STL has transferred the ward’s management to the hospital authorities, who will be responsible for its ongoing operations.
