Spotify has introduced an innovative feature called Voice Translation for Podcasts. This cutting-edge tool harnesses AI technology, including OpenAI’s voice generation, to seamlessly convert podcasts into various languages while preserving the distinct voice style of the original podcaster.
In essence, this means that a podcast originally recorded in English can now be enjoyed in different languages without compromising the unique personality and delivery of the host.
In order to put this feature to the test, Spotify has collaborated with well-known podcasters such as Dax Shepard, Monica Padman, Lex Fridman, Bill Simmons, and Steven Bartlett. They leveraged AI to translate their podcast episodes into languages like Spanish, French, and German, among others.
Spotify’s future plans involve expanding this capability to more shows, including Dax Shepard’s “eff won with DRS,” “The Rewatchables” from The Ringer, and Trevor Noah’s upcoming podcast.
Availability Spotify Voice Translation for Podcasts
The availability of these voice-translated episodes extends to both Premium and Free Spotify users across the globe. Initially, Spanish translations will be accessible, with French and German versions on the horizon.
Listeners can easily discover these translated episodes in the Now Playing View or navigate to the dedicated Voice Translations Hub for additional options and information.
