R&M has expanded its outdoor fiber optic connectivity portfolio with the launch of the new LUNAR, designed to support plug-and-play deployment for fiber optic networks.
The Switzerland-based infrastructure solutions provider is showcasing the product for the first time at ANGA COM 2026 in Cologne, where it is also demonstrating applications built around its PreCon pre-terminated fiber cabling system.
Plug-and-Play Approach Aims to Accelerate Fiber Rollouts
The LUNAR distribution box is delivered pre-terminated, factory-tested, and ready for installation based on operator-specific project requirements.
According to R&M, the approach eliminates the need for field fiber splicing, enabling faster deployment and reducing installation complexity. The company stated that only standard tools are required for mounting the enclosure on facades, masts, or suspension cables.
The solution is designed to work alongside R&M’s HEC-QR outdoor quick-release connectivity system, targeting projects with limited resources and accelerated rollout schedules.
Flexible Configurations Support Multiple Network Architectures
The LUNAR fiber distribution box is available in three sizes and supports up to twelve ports within a compact footprint of up to 20 centimeters in width.
The modular design allows deployment across point-to-point and point-to-multipoint fiber architectures while supporting splitter configurations, fan-out cabling, and interfaces including LC, SC, and MPO connectors.
Built for Harsh Outdoor and Industrial Environments
R&M said the products comply with IP68 protection standards alongside IEC and Telcordia GR-771 approval requirements, enabling deployment in demanding outdoor conditions.
Potential use cases include Fiber to the Home (FTTH) projects with aerial deployment in rural regions, Fiber to the Antenna (FTTA) installations for mobile networks, and fiber infrastructure supporting railways, utilities, and industrial digitalization initiatives.
