According to reports from Taiwanese media, the ASUS Zenfone series is poised to reach its conclusion with the upcoming Zenfone 10 model. This strategic move is a result of an extensive “organizational restructuring” undertaken by ASUS, impacting their PC division operations in both Taiwan and China.
Shift in Divisions Internal communications within ASUS indicate an initial plan to transfer some employees from the PC department to mobile phone divisions, encompassing Zenfone and ROG Phone. However, this plan evolved, ultimately leading to the release of some employees from their roles.
The underlying cause for this transition appears to be ASUS’ choice to discontinue the Zenfone series. Consequently, the Zenfone team’s operations will cease, and the affected personnel will either be reassigned to other segments within the organization or redirected to the ROG Phone team.
ASUS’ organizational restructuring had been announced earlier in June, with assurances of no workforce reductions. However, in July, the company did make staff reductions in its PC division, affecting staff in Taiwan and Suzhou, China.
Conclusion of Zenfone Series The forthcoming Zenfone 10 model will mark the final installment in the Zenfone series, bringing an end to a line that was initiated in 2014. Despite its existence for numerous years, the Zenfone series failed to attain substantial recognition within the Android market, particularly in the United States.
Interestingly, the Zenfone 10 had recently been available for pre-order in the United States. It’s important to note that ASUS has yet to issue any official statements regarding the reported conclusion of the Zenfone series.
