Pocket FM achieved a landmark 2024 with listeners streaming over 100 billion minutes globally and completing more than 45 million transactions. The platform’s audience demographics highlight its dominance among younger generations, with 54% Gen Z and 37% Millennials, while maintaining near-gender parity at 53% male and 47% female.
AI-powered innovations played a crucial role, expanding the content library by 36 times with AI-generated series and doubling human-narrated content. These advancements spurred financial success, with over seven audio series generating over $10 million in revenue—a sixfold increase from 2023. Additionally, 35 series surpassed the million-dollar mark, tripling the count from the previous year.
Genres That Ruled the Year
Romance and Drama dominated listener preferences in both India and the US, with Fantasy and Sci-Fi as well as Horror and Thriller also driving engagement. These genres underscored the universal appeal of immersive storytelling.
24/7 Entertainment: Shifting Listening Habits
Pocket FM firmly established itself as the go-to 24/7 entertainment platform, with over 200,000 listeners spending more than three hours daily on the app. More than 10,000 users clocked over 3,000 hours of listening—an average of eight hours per day.
Consumption patterns revealed new trends in audience behavior. Morning hours (5-8 AM) and commute times (8-11 AM) accounted for nearly 30% of daily usage, while leisure hours (8-11 PM) recorded around 8%. Interestingly, late-night listening (11 PM-5 AM) surged to account for 22.9% of total consumption, reflecting the platform’s versatility in capturing diverse listener habits.
India’s Captivation With Audio Stories
India emerged as a pivotal market for Pocket FM in 2024, with vibrant participation from cities like Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai. Popular genres such as Romance and Drama and Horror and Thriller kept audiences engaged.
Top-performing audio series resonated deeply with Indian listeners:
- Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh: Played over 100 million times.
- Secret Ameerzaada: Played over 85 million times.
- Insta Millionaire: Played over 60 million times.
- Insta Empire: Played over 50 million times.
- Super Yoddha: Played over 42 million times.
