In January, Google released the QPR beta 2 update, which added 5G support for Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro users on Airtel and Jio networks in India. With the latest Pixel feature drop that was released yesterday, all users running the stable release can now access 5G support, fulfilling Google’s earlier promise.
After undergoing extensive testing and collecting user feedback during the beta stage, the addition of 5G support for Pixel phones in India has finally been made available. As shown in the screenshot, users can now see a 5G option that is enabled by default, along with the LTE and 3G options.
In addition to the 5G support, the update also improves Dual SIM Dual Standby functionality for Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro users by allowing two eSIMs to be enabled simultaneously without requiring a physical SIM. However, Google notes that this feature will only work with certain carriers or networks.
It’s worth noting that the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro were launched in India in October 2022, and it has taken Google five months to introduce 5G support for these devices in the country.
