In India, Redmi has been teasing the arrival of the Redmi Note 12 Pro on January 5 for the past week. It was not known whether it would be the only member of the Redmi Note 12 family to make an appearance, or if there would be a few more.
An extensive teaser marketing on the Redmi India Twitter page has confirmed that the Redmi Note 12 Pro would also be introduced in the country at the same time.
Late in October, each of these models made its debut in China. There was also the introduction of a regular Redmi Note 12, and the Redmi Note 12 Discovery variant, which supports wired charging at 210W. Whether or if either of these will travel to India is still unknown.
Advertisements for the Redmi Note 12 Pro highlight the phone’s optical image stabilization (OIS) for its primary camera. The Pro & the Pro+ are essentially the same phone, with the exception of the main camera (200 MP vs. 50 MP) & the charging power (67W vs. 120W). The Discovery model is a Pro+, but its battery capacity is only 4,300 mAh (down from 5,000) thus it can only be charged using 210W.
They all have the same 6.67-inch 120 Hz OLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 1080 system-on-chip (SoC), 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, 2-megapixel macro shooter, and 16-megapixel front-facing camera, & they also run Android 12 with MIUI 13 on top.
