Ola’s annual flagship tech event, Sankalp (संकल्प) 2024, held on August 15th at the Futurefactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, was a resounding success. The event attracted over 8000 attendees, with an additional 6.4 lakh viewers joining online, making it one of the most significant tech events of the year. Sankalp 2024 brought together a diverse audience, including students, developers, research scientists, and motorcycle enthusiasts, showcasing Ola’s commitment to fostering innovation in India.

To ensure wide accessibility, Sankalp 2024 was live-streamed in nine Indian languages: Hindi, English, Bengali, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada. The live streams were available across all Ola experience centers, emphasizing the company’s focus on inclusivity and its reach across different regions of India.

At the heart of Sankalp 2024 were several groundbreaking announcements that highlighted Ola’s vision for the future:
- Expansion of Motorcycle Portfolio: Ola Electric unveiled its new Roadster series, further expanding its electric motorcycle offerings and solidifying its position as a leader in electric mobility.
- Bharat 4680 Cell and Solid-State Battery Technology: Showcasing its commitment to sustainable energy, Ola introduced the Bharat 4680 cell and advancements in solid-state battery technology, marking a significant leap in electric vehicle efficiency.
- MoveOS 5 and Gen-3 Platform: Ola announced the launch of MoveOS 5 and its advanced Gen-3 platform, enhancing the user experience and performance of its electric vehicles.
- कृत्रिम (Krutrim) – India’s Own AI: One of the standout moments of the event was the unveiling of कृत्रिम (Krutrim), India’s indigenous AI. The ambitious roadmap for Krutrim aims to position India as a global hub for artificial intelligence, with a focus on developing full-stack AI capabilities.
- Launch of Ola Consumer: Ola also introduced Ola Consumer, a platform designed to revolutionize retail and commerce in India. Key innovations included ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce), 100% electric logistics, AI-driven discovery, accessible credit solutions, automated warehousing, robust manufacturing technology systems, and a comprehensive loyalty program.
A Blend of Technology and Entertainment
Sankalp 2024 wasn’t just about technology—it was also a celebration. The event featured a performance by three-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Kej, who dedicated his piece “Shine Your Light” to Ola. The event had a carnival-like atmosphere, with attractions such as a life-size Jenga, a Ferris wheel, AI photo booths, and an Ola Merchandise Zone, making it a memorable experience for attendees of all ages.

The inaugural edition of Sankalp underscored the importance of reducing dependency on western technologies, fostering India’s homegrown innovations, and focusing on advancements in AI, sustainable energy, and electric mobility.
