NetApp, a leading global cloud-focused, data-centric software company, has officially announced the renewal of its collaboration with Microsoft. This partnership aims to deliver cutting-edge innovations to Microsoft Azure users, bringing together a suite of solutions that seamlessly integrate cloud storage with Azure NetApp Files (ANF), NetApp BlueXP, and Cloud Volumes ONTAP, now expanded to include CloudOps solutions from Spot by NetApp. All these offerings are built upon the robust foundation of industry-leading technologies from NetApp and Microsoft.
ANF, designed specifically for the public cloud, stands out as a purpose-built storage solution catering to all enterprise file workloads. It promises performance and data management capabilities previously associated with on-premises environments. ANF achieves impressive data performance with exceptionally low latencies within the secure Azure Virtual Network (VNET), seamlessly integrating enterprise-grade data protection and disaster recovery architectures into the Azure ecosystem.
“Through our collaboration with Microsoft, we can deliver market-leading cloud storage and cloud infrastructure operations to our customers and partners that nobody else in the industry offers,” said Ronen Schwartz, Senior Vice President, and General Manager of Cloud Storage, at NetApp. “NetApp is offering a robust set of capabilities–with ANF, NetApp BlueXP Hybrid data services, Cloud Volumes ONTAP, and Spot. We innovate in collaboration with Microsoft Azure, offering customers unparalleled optimization to both storage and compute. We accelerate the move of the cloud of general file and enterprise workloads, and increasingly help customers with cloud-native workloads, Kubernetes and AI.”
The partnership has resulted in significant investments in the Spot by NetApp portfolio for CloudOps on Azure, introducing solutions that integrate with ANF, NetApp BlueXP, and Cloud Volumes ONTAP. These CloudOps solutions leverage AI/ML-driven automation to continuously optimize all Azure compute resources, enhancing efficiency and reducing operational complexity for customers.
Aung Oo, General Manager for Microsoft Azure Storage, commended the collaboration, stating, “Azure NetApp Files continues to deliver ever-greater innovation to our customers due to our long-standing and fruitful partnership with NetApp. Together, Microsoft and NetApp provide customers an efficient way to optimize their Azure infrastructure, with Azure first-party storage service based on ONTAP, helping ensure they see maximum benefit from their investment with us.”
Together, NetApp and Microsoft have maintained a rapid pace of recent innovation, including:
