NCRF Provides Guidance on Cyber Security for Critical Sectors

The Government of India has been actively focusing on providing structured guidance on cyber security to critical sectors in the country. These sectors include Telecom, Power and Energy, Transportation, Finance, Strategic Entities, Government Entities, and the Health sector. This important initiative is led by the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre, with funding from the National Security Council Secretariat.

At an event held on June 12, 2023, at Persistent Systems Limited in Pune, Lt General Rajesh Pant, the National Cyber Security Coordinator, announced the completion of the first version of the NCRF (National Cybersecurity Risk Framework) document. This document is now prepared for public release. The framework will serve as a guide for critical sector entities, assisting them in developing governance and management systems, as well as architectural frameworks for both Information Technology and Operational Technology systems.

The NCRF will be a living document, regularly updated to address new threats and technologies. Organizations can utilize the NCRF to enhance their cybersecurity posture, mitigate the risk of data breaches or cybersecurity incidents, ensure compliance with regulations, strengthen customer confidence, and improve operational efficiency.
