Microsoft’s new Bing Search with ChatGPT attracted over 1 million registrations within 48 hours

In a span of 48 hours, the waitlist for the new Bing Search featuring ChatGPT functionality garnered over 1 million registrations, according to Microsoft. OpenAI’s ChatGPT, on the other hand, had amassed a million users in only a week.

Microsoft launched an updated version of its Bing Search powered by “next-generation” ChatGPT AI technology and also integrated new AI capabilities into its Edge browser.

Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president, and consumer chief marketing officer at Microsoft tweeted, “We’re humbled and energized by the number of people who want to test-drive the new AI-powered Bing! In 48 hours, more than 1 million people have joined the waitlist for our preview.”

The tech company said that the updated search engine will provide improved search results, more comprehensive answers, an updated chat interface, and the ability to generate content. The AI-enhanced Bing search engine and Edge browser are now accessible for preview on Bing.com.

The new Bing offers users an enhanced version of the traditional search experience. The upgraded search engine is fueled by the next-generation OpenAI large language model, which is even more powerful than ChatGPT.
