iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models will be produced in India through a manufacturing partnership with the Tata Group

As the launch of the iPhone 15 series is still some time away, leaks and rumors surrounding the devices have already begun circulating online. Among the various speculations about the specifications, features, and design, a recent report has emerged suggesting an interesting development related to Apple’s manufacturing process. According to this report, it is believed that the iPhone 15 series, including both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models, will be assembled in India. The report indicates that Tata Group has purportedly secured the rights for distributing the assembly orders of the iPhone 15 series in the country.

A recent report from TrendForce reveals that Tata Group will undertake the assembly of a portion of the iPhone 15 series smartphones in India. Tata Group’s recent acquisition of Wistron has provided them with access to the iPhone production line in India. As a result, Tata Group is expected to become Apple’s new contract partner for iPhone manufacturing in India, joining the ranks of Foxconn, Pegatron, and Luxshare as the fourth manufacturer for Apple. This move signifies Apple’s continued efforts to expand its manufacturing operations and diversify its supply chain in India.

According to the mentioned report, Tata Group is expected to assemble a relatively small portion of the iPhone 15 series, specifically 5 percent of the devices. The majority of assembly orders for the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max will still be handled by Foxconn, which is anticipated to retain 70 percent of these orders. Furthermore, Foxconn is predicted to manage 60 percent of the assembly orders for the iPhone 15 Plus. Therefore, while Tata Group’s involvement in the manufacturing process is notable, the bulk of the assembly responsibilities for the iPhone 15 series will continue to be divided among Foxconn, Luxshare, and Pegatron.
