The Indian Institute of Management Udaipur (IIMU) proudly announces the inauguration of its cutting-edge Behavioural Lab, established in collaboration with the Government of Rajasthan under the Department of Information Technology & Communication (IT&C).
The lab was officially inaugurated on July 30, 2024, by Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of Information Technology and Communications, Government of Rajasthan. Situated within the Rajasthan Centre of Advanced Technology (R-CAT) premises in Jaipur, this facility represents a significant advancement in behavioural research capabilities.
Advanced Research Technologies
The Behavioural Lab is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies such as Electroencephalography (EEG), Eye Tracking, and Galvanic Skin Response (GSR). These tools will enable researchers to conduct comprehensive behavioural experiments, exploring the complexities of human cognition, emotion, and behaviour. The insights gained from these studies are expected to be invaluable for academic research, policy testing, and market applications, providing a deeper understanding of human behaviour.
Significance and Vision
Prof. Ashok Banerjee, Director of IIM Udaipur, highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating, “With the inauguration of the Behavioural Lab, we advance our understanding of human cognition and behaviour. This collaboration with the Government of Rajasthan underscores our commitment to cutting-edge research. The lab’s advanced technologies, like EEG and Eye Tracking, will propel academic research and offer insights for policy development and market applications. We are excited about the possibilities this facility opens for researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals.”
Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation
The Behavioural Lab is envisioned as a pioneering hub for interdisciplinary research, aiming to advance the understanding of human behaviour and decision-making through neurophysiological tools like EEG, Eye Tracking, and GSR. This facility is expected to drive innovation across academic research, government policy, and market applications. It will benefit a wide range of stakeholders, including faculty, researchers, and PhD students from various universities, government departments, and business professionals across industries, particularly MSMEs and startups.
Impact and Future Prospects
This initiative marks a significant step forward in behavioural research and its applications. The lab will not only enhance the research capabilities of IIM Udaipur but also provide critical insights for developing effective policies and market strategies. By leveraging advanced neurophysiological tools, the Behavioural Lab aims to foster a deeper understanding of human behaviour, ultimately contributing to the advancement of knowledge and innovation in multiple fields.
