IEC International Standards Promotion Center (Nanjing) and Huawei Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement

The IEC International Standards Promotion Center (Nanjing) and Huawei have entered into a strategic cooperation agreement to collaborate extensively across various domains, aiming to expedite the digital transformation of the electric power industry in China.

Under this agreement, the IEC International Standards Promotion Center (Nanjing) and Huawei will establish mechanisms for reciprocal high-level visits and regular exchanges. Both entities will consistently conduct meetings to deliberate on the evolving trends and challenges in the digital transformation of the electric power industry and strategize on how to address them. They will enhance exchanges and collaboration in the field of electric power digitalization. Simultaneously, a joint standards Research and Development (R&D) mechanism will be instituted to create and promote pertinent standards and regulations concerning power digitalization. By sharing successful practices and experiences globally, they aim to contribute to the advancement of the power industry.

The signing of this agreement is a significant milestone in the partnership between the IEC International Standards Promotion Center (Nanjing) and Huawei. Established by the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) and the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering (CSEE), the IEC International Standards Promotion Center (Nanjing) is dedicated to providing support and services for relevant Chinese and international institutions, enterprises, and experts participating in IEC international standardization activities. As a trusted partner that has closely collaborated with over 190 power companies worldwide, Huawei actively supports and engages in standard-setting initiatives to collectively foster a robust industrial ecosystem. Looking ahead, both parties aspire to continue their collaboration in advancing the digitalization of electric power, with the overarching goal of assisting the global power industry in becoming smarter.

The agreement was signed by Fan Jianbin, Director General of the IEC International Standards Promotion Center (Nanjing), and David Sun, CEO of Huawei’s Electric Power Digitalization BU. Shu Yinbiao, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, and the 36th President of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), along with Guo Ping, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Huawei, attended the signing ceremony as witnesses.
