Headphone Zone has announced the launch of the Headphone Zone X KZ Thunder, a co-branded hybrid in-ear monitor developed entirely from scratch in collaboration with KZ. Priced at ₹1,999, the Thunder marks the first time the two brands have built a product without modifying an existing KZ model, introducing an all-new design, driver configuration, crossover circuit, and PCB.
A True Ground-Up Hybrid Design
Unlike previous collaborations that focused on tuning refinements or cosmetic updates, the Thunder has been engineered as a completely new IEM. It features a fresh faceplate design, redesigned internal architecture, and a newly developed hybrid driver system. The result is a product that stands apart from existing KZ models, both visually and acoustically.
Dual-Driver Hybrid Configuration
The Thunder uses a hybrid setup that combines a 10mm dynamic driver with a balanced armature driver — a configuration typically seen at higher price segments. The dynamic driver is responsible for delivering impactful bass and low-end weight, while the balanced armature driver handles crisp, detailed highs. Together, they produce a more refined and layered sound than its price suggests.
Tuned for Energy and Impact
The Thunder adopts a V-shaped sound signature designed for listeners who enjoy energetic music genres such as rock, metal, EDM, and layered Bollywood productions. Bass carries texture and punch, while treble remains lively without becoming harsh. The tuning is aimed at delivering excitement and engagement, making it suitable as a first serious IEM or a fun daily driver for experienced enthusiasts.

Two Variants for Flexible Use
The IEM is available in two editions. The 3.5mm variant is intended for users pairing it with portable DACs and dedicated audio players. The Type-C variant integrates a built-in DAC directly into the cable, allowing seamless connection to smartphones and laptops without requiring additional adapters. Both versions include an inline microphone and one-touch control for calls and playback.
Designed for Comfort and Longevity
The Thunder features ergonomically designed transparent resin shells shaped to sit flush in the ear canal, reducing pressure points and enhancing comfort during extended listening sessions. The shells reveal gold-highlighted internals, paired with black faceplates featuring an intricate modern pattern created exclusively for this model.
The modular 0.78mm 2-pin cable allows users to replace, upgrade, or switch to balanced or Bluetooth modules as needed. This ensures the Thunder can evolve with the listener’s setup rather than becoming obsolete.

Leadership Quote
“I’ve been selling KZ IEMs for many years at Headphone Zone. We’ve shipped millions of them across India,” said Raghav Somani, Founder and CEO of Headphone Zone. “But every collaboration until now was based on something that already existed. The Thunder is the first time we’ve built something completely new together. It’s the KZ IEM I’m most proud of.”
