Google’s annual I/O developer conference will commence on May 10th at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. While the keynote will have a limited live audience, it will be open for free online viewing for all.
Before the pandemic, Google I/O was an extensive event that spanned over several days with an extravagant keynote and expensive tickets. However, due to Covid-19, the tech giant canceled the event in 2020. The following year, I/O made a return as a virtual exhibition and welcomed a limited audience in 2022.
Although Google has not yet disclosed the agenda for I/O 2023, we can make some informed speculations. With artificial intelligence (AI) being prevalent these days, it is likely that Google will try to incorporate it into as many products as feasible. Additionally, there may be an update on Google’s AI chatbot, Bard, although this may be revealed sooner rather than later.
In early February, Google unveiled Bard, but a mistake at the beginning resulted in an awkward situation for the company. However, Google is not alone in this regard, as Microsoft’s Bing chatbot also faced a humiliating ordeal and was found to be vulnerable to prompt injection attacks.
Moreover, it is highly probable that there will be significant discussion on the upcoming version of Android and the much-anticipated Pixel 7a during the event.
There are rumors circulating that the next affordable Pixel phone will feature a 1080p, 90Hz AMOLED display and run on the same Tensor G2 SoC as the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Other enticing features include a 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 image sensor and a 13-megapixel Sony IMX712 ultra-wide camera sensor. If the price remains unchanged, it is anticipated that the phone will be sold for approximately $450, similar to the Pixel 6a.
