In a major announcement, Ola unveiled its first electric car at Mission Electric 2022. The company’s CEO Bhavish Aggarwal also briefed about the car’s features, design, and Ola’s new S1 scooter.
Ola Electric’s Independence Day event has concluded, and also the company has announced that its electric vehicle will be available for purchase soon. The car’s mileage will reach by 500-kilometer range and it will be available in 2024, according to the OLA manufacturers. A new battery and an S1 scooter were also unveiled. Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO & co-founder of Ola, discussed starting an EV revolution in India at the event. In the long term, he says, Ola Innovation and technologies will be capable of manufacturing a million electric vehicles.
Agarwal has been dropping hints on social media for quite some time now that he will soon be announcing a new automobile. The new electric vehicle, however, won’t be available for some years. Ola has only said that the vehicle will accelerate from zero to hundred miles per hour in four seconds. However, delivery of the vehicle is not expected until 2024, making it clear that it’s still a work in progress.
There have been safety issues expressed over the past few months regarding Ola’s EV scooters, which are already available on the market. Aggarwal claims that the Ola Electric Car will have a sleek, futuristic appearance.
Reintroduction of the Ola S1:
During the event, Ola “relaunched” its entry-level S1 scooter at a discounted cost of Rs 99,999. The S1 shares a hardware foundation with the more premium S1 Pro and it will appear very similar to the latter. There will be a 3-kilowatt-hour battery installed in the S1, which should allow it to travel up to 131 kilometers according to ARAI’s certification. The maximum speed it can achieve is 95 kph. Since the Ola S1 runs the same version of the Move OS also as S1 Pro, it shares many of that model’s software capabilities, including music playback, navigation, reverse gear, and much more.
Ola Electric car:
Although few details have been made public, we do know that the vehicle has a 100-kilometer range and can reach 100 kilometers per hour in just 4 seconds. By comparison, Tata says its Nexon EV can travel 437 kilometers on a single charge. Tata claims that its electric car can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds.
That may make Ola Electric’s upcoming vehicle sound even more spectacular, but the Tata Nexon is a midsize SUV, while Ola has not yet confirmed the body style for its new vehicle. Aggarwal showed off a hatchback in a teaser image he posted in July. However, a fastback sedan seems to be featured in Ola Electric’s video’s outline. These numbers may also be typical for electric vehicles in India by the year 2024.
