BorgWarner continues to strengthen its position in the new energy vehicle (NEV) market by securing four new motor supply projects with three of China’s leading automotive brands. These agreements further expand BorgWarner’s influence in China’s rapidly growing hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) sector.

New Projects and Production Timeline

The latest contracts include:

  • 400V high-voltage hairpin (HVH) motors for a top-tier Chinese NEV supplier’s 200kW hybrid rear-drive platform, with production scheduled to start in August 2025.
  • Motors for a 150kW pure electric platform from a leading Chinese domestic OEM, set to begin mass production in March 2026.
  • Electric motors for range-extended and plug-in hybrid models of another major Chinese automaker, with production commencing in August and October 2025.

Commitment to Innovation in China’s NEV Market

Commenting on the company’s success, Dr. Stefan Demmerle, President and General Manager of BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems, stated: “We are pleased to extend our success in China with several new electric motor business wins for a variety of hybrid and electric applications. We are dedicated to continuously innovating our technology and improving our manufacturing processes to deliver high-quality products and services to meet the evolving needs of new energy vehicle customers.”

Introducing the Ultra Short High Voltage Hairpin (S-HVH) eMotor Technology

To address the rising demand for high-performance and efficient electric motors, BorgWarner has unveiled its Ultra Short High Voltage Hairpin (S-HVH) eMotor technology. This advanced innovation features:

  • Optimized manufacturing processes to shorten end-turn lengths, reducing the overall size of the motor.
  • A more compact design, with an end-size reduction of over 5mm compared to traditional HVH winding.
  • Lower axial volume, increased power density, and reduced copper usage, improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Compatibility with both 400V and 800V platforms, making it adaptable for various NEV applications.
  • Seamless integration with existing production lines, allowing manufacturers to upgrade factories easily.

BorgWarner’s latest advancements reinforce its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the future of electric mobility, as it continues to support China’s transition to clean and efficient transportation solutions.
