BatteryPool Raises ₹8 Crore in Pre-Series A Funding Led by Inflection Point Ventures

BatteryPool, the Pune-based EV technology startup pioneering sachet-style battery access for electric two- and three-wheelers, has raised ₹8 crore in its latest Pre-Series A round. The investment was led by Inflection Point Ventures (IPV), with participation from the Indian Angel Network (IAN), Chennai Angels, Keiretsu Forum, and several high-net-worth individuals. The new funds will help the company scale its battery fleet 10x over the next 18 months, expanding its footprint beyond its current presence in six cities.

A Breakthrough Model for EV Battery Access

BatteryPool has built India’s first pay-as-you-go EV battery platform, enabling riders to pay in small daily, weekly, or monthly amounts instead of committing to the high upfront cost of battery ownership. This model is powered by the startup’s proprietary hardware and IoT-enabled battery management system, making EV adoption more accessible for a wider demographic. With over 2,000 connected batteries in circulation, the platform has already demonstrated strong adoption in multiple markets.

Founder’s Deep Technical Expertise

The company was founded in 2020 by Ashwin Shankar, a Stanford-trained electrical engineer with hands-on experience at Schlumberger and NASA. His background, combined with his work at a leading technology policy think tank, gives BatteryPool a unique blend of engineering sophistication and ecosystem-level insight.

Rising Demand for Practical EV Charging Solutions

India now has over 2 million electric two- and three-wheelers on the road, and FY25 alone saw another 2 million added to the fleet, continuing to be dominated by these vehicle categories. This rapid growth highlights the need for dependable, simple, and scalable battery solutions—precisely the gap BatteryPool aims to fill with its flexible, low-commitment payment model.

Strengthening National Footprint and Market Readiness

The fresh capital infusion will support BatteryPool’s aggressive expansion strategy, including increasing its battery fleet size, strengthening its nationwide presence, and enhancing its hardware and IoT stack. For lead investor Inflection Point Ventures, which has deployed more than ₹800 crore in over 250 startups, the investment underscores continued confidence in deep-tech solutions accelerating India’s EV transition.

Leadership Quotes

Vikram Ramasubramanian, Inflection Point Ventures, says, “As an emerging economy that’s adopting EVs, India holds immense potential that can be unlocked through innovative, flexible solutions. Where commercial operation of EVs is concerned, fast and efficient charging becomes vital because any delay directly leads to a loss of time and hence revenues. BatteryPool addresses this by providing seamless, pay-as-you-go access to charged batteries, helping riders and businesses be constantly mobile. In addition, the company monetizes batteries through their complete lifecycle, creating multiple revenue streams out of one single asset.”

Ashwin Shankar, Founder, BatteryPool, adds, “The sachet model transformed how Indians consumed everything from mobile data to daily essentials, EVs are next. By bringing sachet-style, pay-as-you-go energy to batteries, we’ve made electric mobility affordable and accessible to the masses. As we move forward, we’re focused on strengthening the ecosystem, building battery access, improving the user experience, and supporting the everyday rider as the country transitions to electric mobility.”

Driving the Future of Accessible Electric Mobility

With its user-centric battery-as-a-service model, BatteryPool is positioned to solve one of India’s biggest EV adoption challenges: affordable and flexible access to energy. As the country accelerates toward widespread electric mobility, the company’s platform offers one of the most scalable and cost-effective pathways for riders and businesses alike.
