In conjunction with the release of new MacBook Pro models, Apple has announced a significant update to its 24″ iMac with M3 chip. This new chip promises a 2x performance boost over the 2021 model with an M1 chip and an impressive 2.5x improvement compared to Intel-based iMacs, according to Apple.
The 24″ iMac retains its stunning 4.5K Retina XDR display, boasting a resolution of 4480×2520 pixels, 218 pixels per inch, and up to 500 nits brightness. Additionally, the display supports Wide color (P3) and True Tone technology. The M3 chip inside features an 8-core CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, coupled with an 8-core or 10-core GPU, hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and a 16-core Neural Engine. Apple highlights a memory bandwidth of 100GB/s.
Other notable features include support for up to 24GB of unified memory, upgraded Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity, and enhanced integration with iPhones for a seamless experience. The GPU now supports hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing, contributing to the iMac’s overall performance boost.
