Amazon India makes it easy to pay with UPI

A recent study conducted by Nielsen Media India on behalf of Amazon India has unveiled compelling insights into the growing enthusiasm among Indian consumers for online festive shopping.

High Interest in Online Shopping

A resounding 81% of shoppers are eagerly looking forward to indulging in online shopping during the upcoming festive season. This overwhelming interest is complemented by a significant 50% of these shoppers planning to amplify their online spending compared to previous festive periods. Moreover, an impressive 78% of respondents place their trust in online shopping platforms, confident in their ability to deliver authentic products across a wide array of categories, including electronic gadgets, luxury beauty brands, home furnishings, and consumables.

Emerges as the Preferred Destination

For a vast majority of consumers (68%), Amazon.in stands out as the preferred and convenient online shopping destination, offering a wide selection of products and brands that is appreciated by a striking 75% of consumers. Furthermore, Amazon.in is not only preferred but also trusted, with almost half of the respondents regarding it as the most trusted and loved online brand for festive shopping across various categories.

Dominates Across Categories

Amazon.in’s dominance extends across a spectrum of categories, making it the top choice for consumers shopping for large appliances (51%), mobiles/smartphones (44%), and consumer electronics (43%). It also takes the lead in fashion and beauty, catering to the preferences of consumers (38% and 35%) seeking apparel, footwear, fashion accessories, and beauty products. The platform’s appeal is further bolstered by its provision of trendy brands, appreciated by around 80% of consumers.

Grocery Shopping Convenience

As the festive season approaches, 41% of consumers turn to Amazon.in for their grocery needs, emphasizing the platform’s growing role in offering convenience and quality assurance. A remarkable 75% of shoppers believe that online shopping events provide the finest quality grocery and everyday essential products, with 76% appreciating the platform’s convenient delivery slots.

Rise of Digital Payments

The study also highlights the increasing popularity of digital payments, with 42% of respondents favoring UPI as their preferred method for online festive shopping. The appeal of UPI lies in its reward-driven usage, with 57% of consumers leveraging it to earn rewards and cashback, particularly during the festive season.
