Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM) has unveiled significant enhancements to its flagship product, Akamai App & API Protector, reinforcing its commitment to powering and safeguarding online experiences.
What’s new?
These upgrades include advanced defenses against sophisticated application-layer distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. The improved Layer 7 DDoS protections can now precisely detect and mitigate short DDoS attack bursts, while leveraging client reputation scores for enhanced rate limiting. Additionally, a new feature called URL Protection ensures the availability of mission-critical URLs, APIs, and microservices by intelligently prioritizing legitimate traffic during highly distributed attacks.
Furthermore, App & API Protector introduces Browser Impersonation Detection, leveraging machine learning to delve into browser behaviors with greater accuracy, thus minimizing false positives and enabling more effective detection of malicious bots.
Users of App & API Protector can now benefit from several additional capabilities, including:
- Simple Start Onboard: This feature streamlines and expedites self-service onboarding and new application set-up, reducing the process to just a few clicks.
- CVE Protection Catalog: Providing insights to prioritize security efforts, this feature aligns with Akamai’s protections. Users can search the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) database to determine Akamai’s active protective measures against a vulnerability, assess threat levels, and access CVE details.
- Client-Side Protection & Compliance: Akamai Client-Side Protection & Compliance assists customers in adhering to PCI DSS v4 regulations and meeting various industry and global compliance standards.
- Advanced SOCC Services: These services cater to customers seeking personalized support and prioritized escalation paths through Akamai’s Security Operations Command Center (SOCC), enabling users to stay ahead of sophisticated cyberthreats.
- Web Security Analytics Updates: Enhancing operations and analytics capabilities, this feature offers customizable dashboards, configuration change indicators, webhook alerts, and shortened deep links for easier sharing.
