Bharti Airtel announced the introduction of its new Cloud portfolio, which would provide specialized products for various business areas in preparation for the rollout of 5G services in the country.
The Edge Cloud Portfolio is where the new cloud services will live, and it will feature the Edge CDN among other things (CDN).
Web and video content can be delivered much more quickly thanks to Airtel Cloud’s Edge CDN, which uses its edge network to place data as close to end users as possible, hence accelerating delivery.
As a result, businesses in the OTT, ed-tech, gaming, and healthcare industries will have less trouble focusing on application performance thanks to decreased latency, expenses, and server load.
“Airtel has three key strengths to offer a differentiated set of cloud offerings. We have 12 large data centres and 120+ edge locations. We also have a network with comprehensive coverage across the country and to most locations across the globe,” said Director & CEO, Airtel Business – Ajay Chitkara.
Currently, Airtel is collaborating with two of India’s leading over-the-top (OTT) service providers.
Chitkara said, “With 5G around the corner, businesses will leverage the low latency, high bandwidth and high device density of the 5G spectrum to solve critical problems using edge computing,“.
Airtel has announced that it will use ‘Open Edge Cloud,’ a technology developed by Edge Cloud application developer Qwilt.
“Our edge architecture provides a new economic model for streaming delivery, in which Airtel Cloud’s Edge CDN plays a central role in the end-to-end value chain,” said CEO, Qwilt Alon Maor.
Airtel has lately started testing a captive private network at the Bosch site in Bengaluru. Airtel is also providing its clients with an Edge computing service.
According to the company, various industry-specific cloud solutions will soon be available.
