Acer Expands Support for SpatialLabs Developers with Suite of Tools that Enable Stereoscopic 3D Experiences

Acer has announced the expansion of its developer tools for SpatialLabs™ technology, opening up new avenues for creating glasses-free, stereoscopic 3D experiences on Acer SpatialLabs Pro devices. The introduction of Unity plug-in support allows developers from diverse industries to harness the power of SpatialLabs Pro devices when building stereo 3D content and applications. Additionally, Acer’s OpenXR runtime for SpatialLabs has received certification, enabling developers to leverage OpenXR protocols for building stereo 3D experiences on SpatialLabs’ commercial displays. The Acer SteamVR Bridge further enhances the potential of stereo 3D for VR application developers, delivering immersive experiences on SpatialLabs Pro devices.

Pro Suite Developer Program: Unity Plug-in

Acer has launched support for the Unity plug-in, expanding its reach to professionals in fields such as education, architecture, construction, medicine, and more. Alongside the existing Unreal plug-in, this move empowers a broader range of creators to utilize Unity’s tools and verticals for enhancing their experiences and presenting their models in true 3D on Acer SpatialLabs Pro devices, eliminating the need for specialized glasses.

Acer OpenXR Runtime

Acer’s OpenXR Runtime has achieved conformance, making SpatialLabs Pro devices compliant with OpenXR. As an active member of the Khronos OpenXR working group, Acer is committed to open standards and aims to build an accessible ecosystem for its hardware solutions.

The certification of Acer’s OpenXR Runtime provides benefits to the extended reality (XR) developer community, offering additional device options to showcase their high-resolution, glasses-free stereoscopic 3D creations. By leveraging the cross-platform, high-performance API of OpenXR, developers can innovate faster while leveraging Acer’s expertise in delivering immersive, stereoscopic 3D visuals through SpatialLabs. The OpenXR runtime is also available for Acer SpatialLabs Pro device users to utilize OpenXR-compatible applications such as Autodesk VRED and Blender.

Acer SteamVR Bridge

With the proprietary Acer SteamVR Bridge driver, developers of VR applications can convert their creations on Acer SpatialLabs Pro devices, delivering captivating imagery and clarity to users without the need for VR headsets. The Acer SteamVR Bridge also allows SpatialLabs Pro device users to streamline workflows and expand viewing options for enhanced stereo 3D projection of complex graphics, visual effects, and simulations, especially when combined with NVIDIA Omniverse™.
