Telstra, the leading provider of telecommunications services in Australia, has admitted that a data breach occurred within the corporation due to the actions of a third party. The hack addressed a third-party platform known as Work Life NAB which is no longer utilized by the firm, as well as the data that was compromised targeted the defunct Telstra employee awards program.
The corporation did not disclose the number of employees that were affected, however, reports indicated that there will be as many as 30,000 employees affected. Telstra further revealed that the information includes first & last names in addition to the e-mail addresses that were utilized during the registration process for the program.
“There has been no compromise of Telstra’s systems,” stated Narelle Devine, who serves as Telstra’s Chief Information Security Officer for such Asia Pacific area. And there was no involvement of client account data whatsoever. The data were fundamental in their nature.
This news comes just one day after Optus, the company’s competitor, disclosed that roughly 2.1 million of its present & past customers had a leak of their private information as a result of a huge hack. Following the data breach that Optus had, Services Australia has at long last received the data that was requested from them.
