Samsung, a prominent player in the foldable smartphone market, is currently preparing for the release of the fifth generation of its Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip smartphones.
Although the release of Samsung’s upcoming foldable phones is several months away, information about the devices continues to emerge online. The latest reports suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 might feature dust resistance capabilities.
According to a report shared by Twitter user @chunvn8888, the upcoming generation of Samsung’s foldable smartphones is expected to receive an IP58 rating, indicating both water and dust resistance. This rating suggests that the devices will be able to withstand water immersion up to 1.5 meters deep for a duration of 30 minutes.
Compared to the current generation, which only has water resistance (IPX8 rating), the inclusion of dust resistance in the upcoming devices would enhance their durability and reduce the risk of damage caused by dust, sand, or other particles. This becomes particularly important for foldable phones due to the presence of mechanical parts like hinges, which are susceptible to dust-related issues.
Please note that the information regarding the dust resistance feature in Samsung’s upcoming foldable smartphones has not been officially confirmed. Therefore, it is advisable to approach this information with some skepticism until Samsung makes an official announcement.
