During the WWDC 2023 event, Apple revealed its highly anticipated mixed reality headset called Vision Pro, alongside the 15-inch MacBook Air featuring the powerful M2 chip.
Additionally, Apple showcased the upcoming operating systems that are scheduled for release later this fall and announced the devices that will no longer receive support from the company.
Apple has confirmed that the upcoming iOS 17 operating system will not be available for iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and iPhone X, as these devices do not meet the requirement of running on the A12 Bionic chipset or newer.
The eligible devices for iOS 17 include iPhone XR, XS, XS Max, and the second-generation iPhone SE. Similarly, the first-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro and iPhone 5th generation will not be able to install the new iPadOS 17.
iOS 17 introduces various new features such as Live Voicemail transcripts, StandBy display mode, improved autocorrect, and more.
The upcoming iOS 17 brings several exciting features, such as the Smart Home Lock Screen that transforms the iPhone into a “smart-home display” when not in use. This feature allows users to view calendar appointments, weather data, notifications, and more. Additionally, Contact Posters enable users to personalize their representation on other people’s phones.
Another notable addition is Live Voicemail, which provides real-time transcription of voicemails. In terms of safety, Check-In allows users to automatically notify their family and friends when they arrive home safely. iOS 17 also introduces the Journal app, enabling users to create daily journal entries by incorporating people, places, activities, music, and photos that hold personal memories.
