OnePlus is reportedly preparing to launch an upgraded version of its smartphone series in India, following the release of OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite. Dubbed Nord 3, this advanced iteration is expected to succeed the OnePlus Nord and Nord 2, with a leaked timeline suggesting a launch in India within the next “6-8 weeks.”
The leak, coming from Yogesh Brar who has a reliable history of revealing smartphone specifications and prices ahead of official launches, suggests that the OnePlus Nord 3 may be priced between Rs 30,000 to 40,000, which aligns with the company’s trend of increasing prices with each new generation. The original Nord, launched in 2020, had a starting price of Rs 24,999 for the 64GB storage option, while the OnePlus Nord 2 5G started at Rs 27,999 for the base variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Last year’s Nord 2T was priced at Rs 28,999 and higher.
According to the tweet from Yogesh Brar, the OnePlus Nord 3 is expected to feature a 6.7-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 SoC and a 5,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. This could potentially give OnePlus an advantage in terms of charging speed compared to rivals, although Xiaomi’s Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge 5G also offers 120W fast charging at a lower price point.
In terms of the camera setup, the OnePlus Nord 3 is rumored to come with a triple rear camera system including a 64-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel secondary camera, and a 2-megapixel snapper. The front may house a 16-megapixel selfie camera, which is in line with the standard on OnePlus phones.
The tweet does not provide any details about the design of the OnePlus Nord 3, though OnePlus has been known to be experimental with its Nord series. The recent OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G, for example, was launched with new Lime color options, which deviates from the popular teal blue finish typically associated with Nord phones.
OnePlus may also consider retaining the iconic alert slider on the OnePlus Nord 3, which allows users to easily switch between loud and silent audio modes. In recent budget phone models like Nord CE 2 Lite, OnePlus has omitted the alert slider, but it was included in the Nord 2T. Fans can expect a similar inclusion in the upcoming Nord 3, although OnePlus has not yet officially confirmed the launch of this new smartphone model.
