A new feature has been added to WhatsApp for iOS

WhatsApp’s Voice Status feature is now available for iOS users after being introduced on its Android platform last month, along with other features such as private audience selector, status reactions, status profile rings for new updates, and link previews. While most of these features were already available for iOS users, the ability to post voice notes as status updates was not. Let’s explore this latest addition to WhatsApp’s iOS platform.

WhatsApp has been steadily improving its Instagram Stories-style status updates feature by adding new features. One such feature introduced by the Meta-owned messaging platform last month was the ability to post 30-second voice notes as status updates. Although this was a useful addition, the feature was not available to iOS users until recently. Now, iPhone users can also take advantage of this feature. Here’s how to use it:

1. Launch WhatsApp on your iOS device.
2. Go to the “Status” tab located at the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap on the floating pencil icon located at the top right corner of the screen next to “My Status.”
4. Tap on the microphone icon located at the bottom right corner of the screen to start recording your voice message.
5. Hold down the microphone icon and begin recording your message. You can record up to 30 seconds.
6. Release the microphone icon when you’re done recording your message to review it.
7. Tap on the send icon to share your recording as a status update.
8. Your contacts will now be able to listen to your WhatsApp Voice Status update, except for those who are excluded. You can also select an audience with whom you don’t want to share your status. Additionally, a colorful ring will appear around your display picture on your contacts’ screen when you post a new status update, and they can check it out by tapping on your DP, similar to how it works on Instagram.
