The iPhone 15 Pro is rumored to have solid-state volume and power buttons.

It appears that Apple is moving towards a buttonless iPhone in the near future. They have already removed the audio jack and are now introducing the MagSafe wireless charging, indicating that the charging port may also be removed. The iPhone 15 Pro models are rumored to feature solid-state volume and power buttons.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst for Apple, has stated that the iPhone 15 Pro models may utilize two Taptic Engines to provide haptic feedback in place of physical buttons. He also suggests that this technology may eventually be incorporated into the iPad Pro and possibly the Apple Watch Ultra as well.

Ming-Chi Kuo Twitter, “My latest survey indicates that the volume button and power button of two high-end iPhone 15/2H23 new iPhone models may adopt a solid-state button design (similar to the home button design of iPhone 7/8/SE2 & 3) to replace the physical/mechanical button design”.

Removing physical buttons on future iPhones could potentially improve their water resistance and extend the lifespan of the device. According to Kuo, this feature is only expected to be implemented on the pro models, meaning the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models may continue to use physical buttons.
