UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 Highlights Growing Strategic Partnership Between Uttar Pradesh and Japan

The strategic partnership between India and Japan is gaining fresh momentum, with Uttar Pradesh emerging as an important destination for Japanese investment and long-term industrial cooperation, Uttar Pradesh Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Suresh Khanna said at the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026.

Addressing the event at Taj Palace, New Delhi, Shri Suresh Khanna said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has strengthened its position as an investment destination through improved law and order, infrastructure development and investment-friendly policies.

He said Japan’s role in Uttar Pradesh is extending beyond investment, with the country increasingly emerging as a long-term and strategic partner in the state’s development journey.

Japanese Delegation Highlights Growing Business Interest

Shri Khanna welcomed the Japanese delegation led by Kotaro Nagasaki, Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture, and said the participation of a large Japanese delegation reflects the growing confidence of Japanese businesses in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the Minister, the state’s strong law and order, improved connectivity, large consumer market, skilled workforce, policy-driven governance and developing infrastructure are among its key strengths. Initiatives such as Nivesh Mitra have also helped simplify the business environment and accelerate the conversion of investment proposals into projects.

New Opportunities in High-Potential Sectors

Shri Khanna highlighted the recent visit of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to Japan, saying that it has provided fresh momentum to industrial and institutional engagement between Uttar Pradesh and Japan.

He noted that new opportunities are emerging across several high-potential sectors, including green hydrogen, automobiles, advanced manufacturing, technology, innovation and healthcare.

The growing focus on green hydrogen and advanced technologies could also create opportunities for greater collaboration between Japanese expertise and Uttar Pradesh’s expanding industrial ecosystem.

Uttar Pradesh Seeks Long-Term Industrial Cooperation

Shri Khanna emphasised that Uttar Pradesh views Japan not merely as a source of investment but as a trusted partner in sustainable and long-term development.

The partnership, he said, can extend beyond capital investment to include technology partnerships, innovation and industrial collaboration.

He expressed confidence that the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 would further strengthen the economic, industrial and institutional relationship between Uttar Pradesh and Japan and take the partnership to a new level.
